Welding of 25%Cr-20%Ni steels, i.e. 310, 310S, ASTM CR20, DIN 1.4841, 1.4848, AISI 309, 310 and 314. Also for dissimilar welds which require post weld heat treatment, if the joint is to be subject to thermal cycling in service then Ni based electrodes should be used in preference to YAWATA 310.
Characteristics
YAWATA 310-16 is a rutile coated electrode deposits nominally 25%Cr-20%Ni fully austenitic stainless steel weld metal and is normally used for joint welding and hardsurfacing of 25%Cr-20%Ni heat-resistance ferritic Cr steels, provided corrosion resistance in reducing sulphurous combustion gases is not specified. It can be used for welding mild steel to stainless steels though the heat input should be kept low during welding to avoid hot cracking. The weld metal is resistant to oxidation and scaling at temperature up to 1050䉝.
